1-How long does it take to scan my footage?

Most telecines take one or two weeks, but it depends on the work load and the amount of footage you need telecined.

2-How do I calculate the length of my films?

If you do not know how many meters your movies are but you know how long they last, you can calculate the meters according to the following:

For 8mm:

Every minute projected at 16 fps. measures 3.66 meters.

Every minute projected at 18 fps. measures 4.11 meters.

For 16mm. and Super 16:

Every minute projected at 24 fps. measures 11 meters.

You can also know the duration of your footage by looking at the diameter of the reels.

An ordinary Super 8 cartridge measures 15 meters.

The large reels usually have markings on the sides where you can see the movie length in minutes and meters. Usually you will find different marks for sound film and for silent film, this is due to the thickness of the magnetic sound strip.

3-How many Gb will my files weigh?

The scanned image at 720×576 PAL format. avi 10 bit 4:2:2 occupies about 1.6 GB per minute and in HD 1920×1080 at 10 bit 4:2:2 occupies about 8.1 GB per minute.

Each 15 meters Super 8 roll , telecined at 25 fps occupies about 3.8 GB in Pal and about 19 Gb in HD, and telecined at 18 fps takes up 5 GB on Pal and about 26 Gb in HD.

4-How can you deliver the work?

The telecine digital files are delivered in AVI format with Blackmagic codecs, we will provide codecs for PC, Linux or Mac.

If you wish, we can deliver your footage in Quicktime files, as uncompressed TIFF image sequence or TGA, etc. (please enquire about other formats you may require).

We can deliver the files on data DVDs, but we prefer to use an external hard drive that you provide us.

5-Can you capture sound movies?

Yes, we capture the image frame by frame very slowly, then digitize the sound at its normal speed and finally synchronize image and sound.

6-How can I send you the footage?

We are located in central Madrid, if possible, you can give it to us personally or can send them to us by mail or courier to the address we will provide.

7-What methods of payment do you accept?

You can pay cash upon collection of the work or by bank transfer prior to shipping the work.
